What’s the story behind Boonsong Thai?
Boonsong Thai is a true family business with a very personal story. I came to New Jersey from a small village in Thailand with a dream to build something of my own and share the food I grew up with. Starting with very little, I wanted to bring authentic Thai flavors to this community in a way that felt both genuine and welcoming.
The recipes we serve are rooted in traditions passed down through generations. These are the same dishes we cook at home for our own family. “Boonsong” is a family name, and naming the restaurant was a way to honor where we came from.
What are you proudest of with regard to your business?
We’re most proud of the heart and care behind everything we do. From the kitchen to the front of the house, it’s truly a family effort. Many of our customers have been coming to us for over a decade, and seeing familiar faces return and bring their friends and families means everything to us.
We’re also proud to represent authentic Thai cuisine in a way that feels approachable and welcoming to everyone.

Any recommendations or tips for us when we visit? Or something you wish more people knew about?
If it’s your first time visiting, we recommend starting with our Pad See Ew (wide rice noodles that are savory with a slightly smoky flavor) or Pad Kee Mao, also known as Drunken Noodles, for something bold and spicy.
If you’re in the mood for rice, our pineapple fried rice is a customer favorite, and our basil fried rice is a go-to for something comforting.
One thing we wish more people knew is how extensive our gluten-free offerings are. We take extra care in preparing dishes that can be safely enjoyed by those with gluten sensitivities, and many of our guests consider us a go-to spot for gluten-free Thai, we’re incredibly grateful for that trust.
If you’re ever unsure what to order or have dietary restrictions, just ask! We’re always happy to guide you. We love helping first-time guests find their favorites.
What do you like best about being a part of this community?
Folks in Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, Montclair, and the surrounding towns have been incredibly supportive of our business. We feel very lucky to be part of such a diverse and welcoming community.
Serving both longtime customers and new faces and connecting with people through food is the most rewarding part of what we do.
