Mental Health Resources

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. This directory highlights some of the many mental health services available to you—many of which are free or low-cost—including mental health practitioners, crisis intervention, and community-based programs.

Individual & Family Practitioners

Find a mental health practitioner such as a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist who is from or specializes in working with the AAPI community. These individuals can evaluate your needs and provide counseling services to support you in your mental health journey.

You can search the following directories by location, language, and other criteria. Many practitioners offer virtual services and can provide help from outside New Jersey. Check with the practitioner and your health insurance to see if they are covered by your plan. Some practitioners also offer sliding scales for payment. Crisis Mental Health Services

Crisis or emergency mental health services provide outreach and counseling for those who may be experiencing emotional distress and suicidal or substance related crisis and are in need of more immediate assistance. Anyone can experience a mental health crisis, even if they do not have an underlying mental health condition.

Statewide Mental Health Services Directory

The NJ Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services has compiled a list of mental health services offered in New Jersey. The information can be sorted by type of service or by county. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of all services, as the ones listed here have been limited to only those which receive some funding from the State of New Jersey through the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
