AAPIs are a highly diverse group—we deserve to be counted and understood at further depth than simply, “Asian.” New Jersey Senate bill S2415 requires State agencies to update demographic data collection methods on Asian, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian and Indian Diaspora residents of this state. By including more representative ethnicities, we can better understand our disparities and advocate for more resources for particular AAPI groups. Learn more about how data disaggregation and language access can create a more inclusive democracy, with special guests Anjali Mehrotra and Assemblymember Ellen Park.
