Subgrants

Asian American Coalition of New Jersey convening

AAPI New Jersey is proud to provide subgrants as part of our efforts to support the growth of strong grassroots organization and civic engagement efforts through the Asian American Coalition of New Jersey. Subgrants will support programs and organizations across the state that center and celebrate Asian Americans. For eligible programs and organizations, AAPI New Jersey will consider subgrants up to $5,000. 

Eligibility

  • Must be a 501c(3) or have a fiscal sponsor
  • Must be based in New Jersey or have a NJ-specific chapter
  • Must center and serve Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders

Past subgrantees are eligible, but priority will be given to organizations who have not yet received funding from AAPI New Jersey/AACNJ.

Priority given to organizations with an annual budget under $1m.

Projects

Projects should be focused on civic engagement or aligned with AAPI New Jersey’s policy/advocacy priorities (immigration, voting rights, language access, mental health/well-being, workers’ rights, police accountability) and values. Projects must be nonpartisan. 
 
AAPI New Jersey will also fund capacity-building projects, particularly for newer organizations.

Thursday, March 5 at 5pm: Virtual Info session (recording)
Friday, March 6: Subgrant application opens
Wednesday, April 1: Subgrant application closes
Friday, May 1: Notifications

Civic Engagement Microgrants

AAPI New Jersey is happy to support grassroots organizations across the state that center civic engagement work on Asian Americans. For eligible programs and organizations, AAPI New Jersey will consider microgrants up to $500.  

Examples of eligible programs include: t-shirts for canvassers, catering for a voter registration event, venue rental for a nonpartisan candidate forum. All projects must be nonpartisan.

Eligibility

  • Must be a 501c(3) or have a fiscal sponsor 
  • Must be based in New Jersey or have dedicated chapter in New Jersey
  • Must center and serve Asian American Pacific Islanders
  • Past subgrantees and sponsorship recipients are eligible, but priority will be given to organizations who have not yet received funding.

Applications accepted on rolling basis.
