Color Run

5k race and 1-mile fun run

Sunday, April 27, 2025

8:30 – 11:30 AM
Brookdale Park, Bloomfield, NJ
Runners and walkers welcome!
Join us for a vibrant 5k race and 1-mile fun run in celebration of Holi and Songkran!

8:30 am - 5k starts
10:00 am - Fun run starts

Celebrate the spirit of two vibrant festivals! Holi—the Hindu “Festival of Colors” and “Festival of Spring”—marks the end of winter and honors the triumph of good over evil as people throw colored powder at one another. During Songkran or Thai New Year, people pour water on each other to symbolize washing away the past year’s bad luck and welcoming happiness, renewal, and prosperity. Inspired by these traditions, we are excited to bring the community together for a morning of movement, laughter, and cultural celebration.

Participants will race through a closed course inside Brookdale Park, getting splattered with colorful powder along the way. Strollers are welcome (though we ask that they start in the back of the pack), but unfortunately, dogs are not permitted.

Registration is open to all, but space is limited. Sign up now to secure your spot! Early-bird pricing is available until March 30.

Teach Asian American Stories

Help bring AAPI stories and voices to classrooms across NJ!

This year, Color Run participants are invited to help fundraise for AAPI New Jersey’s Teach Asian American Stories (TAAS) initiative.

Teams or individuals who raise $500 or more will receive a custom team headband that they can wear on race day. The three teams or individuals that raise the most money will each get to select a school library, classroom, or teacher to receive a book donation made on their behalf:

1st place: $1,000 worth of books
2nd place: $500 worth of books
3rd place: $250 worth of books

About Teach Asian American Stories
Through professional development workshops, curriculum resources, and hundreds of book donations, TAAS works to ensure that educators throughout the state have access to the training and resources they need to incorporate AAPI history and contributions into their everyday lesson plans.

Want to join the fun but don't feel like racing? Be a volunteer (or do both)!

More than 100 volunteers are needed to check-in participants, guide runners around the course, and make sure everyone gets adequately splashed with color! Pitch in for a couple hours the day of the race or help organize stations and fill color bottles a few weeks in advance—we can’t do this without you!
