Trans students in Edison schools urgently need our help as allies. The Edison Board of Education is voting on October 29, 2024 to remove the critical transgender student guidance policy 5756, which was signed into New Jersey law in 2017. Edison is one of the largest school districts in the state to drop the policy, which protects trans students from being outed against their will and requires schools to affirm a student’s gender identity.
Residents of Edison and surrounding areas, particularly students and families with children in Edison schools, need to come and speak at the Board of Education meeting to express your support for trans kids and prevent policy 5756 from being abolished.
