Nowruz marks the Persian New Year and the arrival of spring. This 3,000-year-old celebration symbolizes renewal, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness. Observed on the spring equinox and celebrated by over 300 million people throughout Western and Central Asia, Nowruz is a time for families and communities to gather, honor their heritage, and embrace the season of growth and new beginnings. From the ceremonial Haft-Sin table to the spirited dances and shared meals, Nowruz celebrates life, unity, and the beauty of Persian culture.
Enjoy an afternoon filled with live performances, music, dance, food, and drinks as we celebrate the arrival of spring and the rebirth of nature. A symbol of renewal and unity in Persian culture, Nowruz is more than a celebration; it is a testament to the endurance of culture, the power of tradition, and the importance of bringing people together.
We are thrilled to host the renowned musician Amir Vahab and his ensemble at our Nowruz celebration. Honored as a peacemaker and virtuoso, Amir Alan Vahab is one of New York’s most celebrated and distinguished composer/vocalists of Sufi and folk music. His songs weave fiery instrumentals and melodies of the ancient lands of the Middle East that include Persian, Turkish, Azeri, and beyond.
Mehrnam Rastegari is an award-winning composer and musician who brings Persian music in new directions by combining it with rock and modern fusion styles. Her performances have taken her to international stages, including the Bill Gates Goalkeepers 2024 event, where she played alongside the Grammy award-winning artist Jon Batiste, and major festivals, including WOMEX, Global Fest, Ragas Live, APAP showcases, Montana Folk Festival, Crossing Border, Le Guess Who, and Into The Great Wide Open. Her performances have brought her to international audiences, where she shares her unique musical voice. Passionate about cultural exchange, Mehrnam encourages younger musicians in Iran, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, helping them navigate both tradition and innovation in their own music. Through her performances, compositions, and film scores, Mehrnam continues to shape the future of Persian music, showing that heritage and experimentation can coexist in powerful ways.
